The governing body of the Bideford Parsonage Museum (West Country Historical Society (WCHS), is seeking a dynamic, imaginative, and proven fundraiser to serve as its (Seasonal) Manager-Curator.  

The Manager-Curator reports to an engaged and committed Board of Directors, providing strategic vision, direction, development, and administrative leadership for this prominent nonprofit.

The ideal candidate must have a passion for history, effective written and verbal communication skills, financial literacy, and the ability to inspire both board and staff with tact and diplomacy.  

  

To be eligible, the applicant must qualify for Federal and Provincial government employment funding.

Museum Guide

The Museum Guide is a full-time seasonal position responsible for providing excellent customer service to all visitors. The Museum Guide must be able to communicate information regarding the Bideford Parsonage Museum, our mission, and anything pertaining to the West Country Historical Society.

PRIMARY DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Regular, reliable attendance and punctuality are essential functions and are required 100% of the time

  • This is a full-time/seasonal position up to 35 hours per week and may require additional hours upon request

  • Must project a professional image while in uniform

  • Promotes the Museum and its partners using a variety of marketing materials and methods

  • Greets group tours and visitors as needed

  • Answers guest questions and give directions as needed

  • Monitors area to ensure a secure environment and reports problems to management

  • Provides exceptional internal and external customer service according to established guidelines

  • Assist the Society’s board and committees with private and public events accordingly

  • Monitor and update the museum's social media sites. (Facebook, website and twitter)

  • Perform light housekeeping and outdoor maintenance as directed by the Manager-Curator.
